We live in a society that’s sexist in ways it doesn’t understand. One of the consequences is that men are extremely sensitive to being criticized by women. I think it threatens them in a very primal way, and male privilege makes them feel free to lash out.

This is why women are socialized to carefully dance around these issues, disagreeing with men in an extremely gentle manner. Not because women are nicer creatures than men. But because our very survival can depend on it.

hmm well honestly my favorite thing to do downtown is to just walk around and look at the cool buildings but if you’re just visiting i would have to recommend making a trip to belle isle, the bridge to the island is just a couple miles east of downtown, also the DIA (detroit institute of art) is a really cool place if you’re into museums. definitely try visiting corktown and the abandoned michigan central train depot, that’s my favorite building in the city. the old tiger stadium field is nearby on michigan ave as well. other than that, just walking around downtown is nice to do and seeing campus martius and hart plaza and the riverfront near the ren cen is a nice way to kill a couple of hours. if you’re looking for food, there are a ton of great restaurants in greektown. pizza papalis is there which is my favorite pizza ever, you gotta try their deep dish. if you want burgers try the mercury bar in corktown, it’s right next to the old train station. right across the street from there is a great BBQ joint called slow’s if you’re in the mood for it. the people moved will get you anywhere you need to go downtown or to greektown if you want to ride it, it’s only 75 cents. Otherwise everything downtown or in greektown is no more than a 5-10 minute walk. If you go to corktown or the DIA I recommend driving because you have to go through some sketchier areas of town to get to those places.

I know it sounds like I just listed a shit ton of stuff but basically just remember downtown, corktown, greektown, and riverfront as well as the restaurants I named if you’re eating in the city.

thank you!!

On Facebook, a friend recently linked to an article called 20 Tools for Men to Further Feminist Revolution. Although he liked the list, he (correctly) noted that most of the suggestions were quite academic.*

His comments have prompted me to create a list of more practical…
